Hoile Electrical helps Christies Beach homeowners with faults, switchboards, safety switches and split system air conditioner installations, with a licensed electrician on call 24 hours a day. Being near the coast, outdoor fittings here tend to wear faster. Call us if a light, switch or board looks corroded or keeps tripping.

Electrical help in Christies Beach

We come to Christies Beach from our base in Brooklyn Park, and we have completed jobs here in the 12 months to October 2026. Calls are usually about something that has stopped working, or about making the switchboard safer.

Salt air and your electrics

Christies Beach is close to the sea, and salt in the air is hard on metal. Outdoor lights, power points, meter boxes and the outdoor part of an air conditioner can all corrode sooner than they would inland.

Signs to look for are rust or white powder on a fitting, a cover that no longer seals, or a light that flickers after rain. Water and electricity do not mix, so call us if you see any of these.

Faults and tripping power

Fault finding is a common reason to call here. A fault often shows up only in damp weather, because moisture gets into a fitting and trips the safety switch. Read why power keeps tripping or see our fault finding service.

If it only happens when it rains, tell us. That clue helps us find the outdoor cause faster.

Switchboards and safety switches

  • Ceramic fuses or a board with no safety switch should be looked at
  • A board that feels warm or smells of burning needs a call straight away
  • A new board can include safety switches on every circuit

We test first and recommend only what the board needs. Details are on our switchboard upgrades and safety switch installation pages.

Air conditioner installation

Split systems get hard use in summer, and the outdoor unit takes the salt air. We do the whole installation, including the pipework and gas, with a protected circuit of its own and a weatherproof isolator outside. See split system installation. We do not service or repair air conditioners, so for that contact your supplier or an air conditioning specialist.

Common questions

Do you come to Christies Beach?

Yes. We travel from Brooklyn Park to Christies Beach and also cover Morphett Vale.

Does salt air really damage electrical fittings?

It can. Salt speeds up rust on outdoor fittings, boxes and clips. Cheap, uncovered fittings fail first, so it pays to have them checked.

Why does my safety switch trip when it rains?

Water may be getting into an outdoor light, power point or cable. Leave it off and have us find the fitting that is letting moisture in.

Can you service my air conditioner?

No. We install split systems, but we do not service or repair air conditioners. Contact your supplier or an air conditioning specialist for that.
